NOTE: Organizations planning larger capital projects including new facilities and renovations over $100,000 should schedule time to discuss your project with our staff before applying. Animal Assistance Foundation Capital Grants Capital Grants are available to Colorado animal welfare organizations that have received funding within the last three years from the Animal Assistance Foundation and are seeking a grant of over $100,000 for an asset such as a facility, equipment, or proprietary software that has a useful life of more than one year. Capital grants are awarded through an intensive vetting process, approving a small number, as resources allow. Organizations seeking funds for capital improvements must serve a wide cross-section of the community, have a thorough understanding of their role in the local community, and be aligned with and committed to the mission, vision, and values of Animal Assistance Foundation. The intent of capital funding is to support projects focused on improving the quality of life for shelter animals, providing expanded services to the local community, and improving the ability of an organization to impact and benefit animals and humans in the community. GOALS Strengthen and support organizations that highly impact animal welfare and benefit both animals and humans in their community.Invest in long-term animal welfare solutions for Colorado communities in deep and lasting ways.Increase sustainability of the organizations in our industry and our communities.

Eligible Applicants:Designated 501 (c)(3) non-profit, fiscal sponsor or government entityLocated in Colorado and primarily serving animals already in Colorado (as opposed to importing from out of state)Proposal aligns with the mission of AAFDemonstrate a commitment to collaboration, community responsibility, and non-divisive language Recent PACFA license and statistics for organizations requiring a license through the Pet Animal Care Facilities ActAll organizations must be enrolled and reporting data to Shelter Animals Count or the Equine Welfare Data Collective, if applicableThe organization has an existing track record and is in good standing with Animal Assistance Foundation, including funding within the last three years.The organization has completed appropriate project feasibility studies and has obtained initial engineering and planning documents.Successful grantees typically have raised at least 30% of the total capital project cost prior to requesting support from Animal Assistance Foundation. If you are seeking funding with a plan that falls outside of these parameters (seed money, matching campaign, etc.) please feel free to contact us for a conversation about your request.The organization owns or has a long-term lease agreement on the property where capital improvements are taking place.
