50by250 Lead Organizers Grants

Youth Service America is focused on increasing youth participation rates in volunteering and service, voting and civic engagement, and joining and leadership to 50% by America 250 on July 4, 2026. Even though youth participation rates are at or near record-high levels, 3 out of every 4 young people are left out, and participation rates are even fewer for young people of color, youth from underserved low-income families & communities, and other youth not usually asked to serve.

Twenty 50by250 Lead Organizers will be awarded $5,000 grants and work  to recruit at least 50 partners in their school district, city, or state and support their participation in the 50by250 initiative.

Eligibility

* Eligible Entities:
* Governmental agencies
* Non-profit organizations
* Faith-based organizations
* K-12 schools, school systems, colleges, and universities
* Must be based in the United States
* Grant Requirements:
* Recruit at least 50 partners to sign the 50by250 Declaration of Participation

* 75% of recruited partners will create partner profiles and report a specific commitment towards increasing youth participation in their organization or community this academic year
* We suggest using MLK Day of Service as a key date to encourage partners to submit and work towards achieving commitments
* 50% of recruited partners will submit a progress report on meeting their commitment
* We suggest using Global Youth Service Day as a key date to encourage partners to work towards achieving commitments and to begin collecting data for their progress report
* Participate in an orientation and check-in meetings
* Funding:
* Funding may be used for any expenses necessary to meet grant goals, including salary and benefits.
* We strongly encourage grantees to use funding for salaries or stipends to ensure that one person will be able to spend an average of 4 hours per week (~200 hours/year) on outreach, training, and follow-up with local partners.
* Grantee must submit an approved budget after grant is awarded before funds are disbursed.
