Overview

2026 Summer Fellowship

Status: Applications are now closed for the 2026 Summer Fellowship.

Program Focus: Investing in the next generation and building tech that serves the people. The fellowship partners with government offices to place fellows in summer positions.

Geographic Scope: United States only

Eligibility Requirements

At the time of application, applicants must meet ALL of the following requirements:

  • Citizenship: U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or permanent resident
  • Age: At least 18 years old at the start of the program (June 8, 2026)
  • Location: Located in the United States for the entire program duration
  • Educational Background: One of the following:
  • - Enrolled in or recently graduated from a bachelor's, master's, professional, or doctoral degree program at an accredited U.S. institution or overseas equivalent - Undergraduate applicants: Expected graduation date between May 1, 2025, and December 31, 2027 (current juniors, seniors, and recent graduates) - Graduate applicants: Expected graduation date no earlier than May 1, 2025 - Enrolled in or recently completed a bootcamp/certificate program with minimum 3 months (12 weeks) of live instruction - Completion date: Between May 1, 2025, and January 31, 2026

Coding it Forward is a non-profit organization focused on investing in the next generation of technologists and building technology that serves the public interest.

How to Apply

Application Process

#### Step 1: Initial Application
Timeline: January 5-19 (for 2026 cohort)

  • Complete straightforward application form with personal details
  • Upload a formatted resume using one of the required standardized formats (see Resume Requirements below)
  • Answer short-answer questions

#### Step 2: Video Interview

  • Qualified candidates invited to complete video interview with Coding it Forward team

  • Evaluates technical skills and alignment of background/experiences with program

  • Note: No coding assessments are part of this process
  • #### Step 3: Final Interview

  • Qualified candidates considered for interviews with government partner organizations

  • Coding it Forward team refers candidates to government partners based on fit for available roles

  • Note: Not every candidate is guaranteed an interview
  • #### Step 4: Offer

  • Government offices select their finalist(s)

  • Offer extended through Coding it Forward

  • Candidates may be asked to submit transcripts to verify educational background before acceptance
  • Standardized Resume Requirement

    MANDATORY: All applicants MUST use the standardized resume template. Choose one option:

    3. Microsoft Word Template
