Overview

WPPA Scholarship Program

Overview: The Wisconsin Professional Police Association offers scholarships to support students pursuing law enforcement education in Wisconsin.

Geographic Scope: Wisconsin residents only

Focus Areas:

  • Police science

  • Criminal justice

  • Law enforcement-related fields

  • Does NOT include law school
  • Eligibility:

  • Must be a Wisconsin resident

  • Must be enrolling in a college or vocational/technical school

  • Must be pursuing a two- or four-year degree in police science, criminal justice, or law enforcement-related field
  • Award Details:

  • Number and Amount: The Scholarship Committee reserves the right to determine the number and amount of scholarships awarded in a given year

  • Payment Method: Recipient must submit proof of enrollment (copy of semester tuition invoice marked "paid") in an accredited institution. Awards are not retroactive and may not be credited to completed semesters. Checks are mailed directly to recipients after proof of enrollment is submitted.
  • Selection: Scholarship recipients are selected by a committee composed of six WPPA Directors. All decisions are final.

    Application Methods: Submit online form or mail application

    Deadline: Must be postmarked on or before January 15

    Required Materials:
    1. Essay (200 words or fewer)
    - Outline why you have chosen a law enforcement career
    - Include any special projects relating to your interest in law enforcement
    - Include any other factors you wish the committee to consider
    - Type on 8½ x 11 paper
    - Include your full name and complete address in top right corner of each page
    - Sign and date the essay

    2. Letters of Recommendation (3 required)
    - Must be from 3 different sources
    - Not more than one letter from any single source
    - Sources may include: family, school teacher, school counselor, neighbor, clergy, employer, civic organization, law enforcement

    3. Transcript
    - High school and/or college grades
    - Unofficial transcript acceptable
