U.S.-Argentina Lithium Tech & Transparency Initiative
U.S. Embassy Buenos Aires announces an open competition to implement the U.S.-Argentina Lithium Tech & Transparency Initiative, a program designed to strengthen technical knowledge, transparency, and standards-based approached in Argentinaâs lithium sector. The initiative will engage provincial mining officials, environmental scientists, and university graduate students in Argentinaâs Lithium Triangle regions, including Salta, Jujuy, and Catamarca. Through workshops, expert exchanges, technical training, and applied learning activities, the program will increase participantsâ understanding of transparent regulatory frameworks, responsible resource governance, and United States best practices related to critical mineral supply chains. This program advances U.S. foreign policy priorities by promoting economic prosperity, transparent governance, supply chain resilience, and stronger U.S.-Argentina cooperation in strategic sectors. It will provide a practical, high-value alternative to opaque investment and research practices by emphasizing merit-based, technically sound, and internationally credible approaches to lithium development and oversight. The Embassy seeks proposals from qualified organizations capable of designing and implementing a program that produces measurable gains in participant knowledge and supports durable professional linkages around transparent and responsible critical mineral development. Project Background, Goals, and Objectives Argentina is home to some of the worldâs most significant lithium reserves, particularly in the provinces of Salta, Jujuy, and Catamarca, which form part of what is often referred to as the Lithium Triangle.
