Overview

The Community Foundation of the Rappahannock River Region The Community Foundation is a devoted advocate for the vitality and well-being of the Rappahannock River Region. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that manages and distributes charitable giving in the counties of Stafford, Spotsylvania, King George, and Caroline, and the City of Fredericksburg. Scholarships One of The Community Foundation’s strategies for preserving and growing the quality of life in our region is supporting higher education for area students. Generous individuals and families, companies and organizations establish endowed scholarship funds and the proceeds from these funds benefit deserving students. Donors work with foundation staff to determine appropriate criteria for each fund. The Community Foundation currently administers more than fifty scholarship funds. The Nuckols Family UVA Law Scholarship in Honor of Gary M. Nuckols This scholarship has been given by the family of Gary M. Nuckols to honor his memory. Gary was a 1971 graduate of the McIntire School of Commerce (Wall Street Journal Student Achievement Award) and a 1974 graduate of the Law School. He was a proud graduate of the University who combined his undergraduate and law education in the practice of business law for nearly 44 years, most of which were spent in his home town of Fredericksburg. We are pleased to provide this tuition assistance as a tribute to a lawyer whose dedication, integrity and community commitment defined him. Please reflect on his gratitude for the quality of his education and his desire to help people as you pursue a law degree from his alma mater.

Applicants to The Nuckols Family UVA Law Scholarship in Honor of Gary M Nuckols must: Be enrolling in or currently enrolled in the University of Virginia's School of Law.Provide proof (i.e. driver’s license, student ID, diploma, transcript, tax bill, utility bill, etc.) of one of the following requirements:Graduated from a high school located in Counties of Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania, Stafford and City of Fredericksburg in Virginia, ORCurrent resident of Virginia and received undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia, ORCurrent resident of Virginia.
