Overview
The Hodder Fellowship at Princeton University's Lewis Center for the Arts supports artists and writers of exceptional promise through independent projects. Recipients can be composers, choreographers, performance artists, or visual artists, among others. The fellowship provides a $93,000 stipend for a 10-month appointment, allowing fellows to engage in significant new work without the obligation of formal teaching. This opportunity fosters creativity and exploration in the arts, encouraging innovative approaches to various disciplines.
Like scholarship of any kind, rigorous artistic practice is a way of interrogating that which is accepted or understood in an attempt to break into the territory of the unknown or under-explored.
The Hodder Fellowship will be given to artists and writers of exceptional promise to pursue independent projects at Princeton University during the academic year. Given the strength of the applicant pool, most successful Fellows have published a first book or have similar achievements in their own fields; the Hodder is designed to provide Fellows with the “studious leisure” to undertake significant new work.
A $93,000 stipend is provided for this 10-month appointment as a Visiting Fellow. Fellowships are not intended to fund work leading to an advanced degree.
