Scholarships

Overview: Scholarships are awarded to individuals suffering from spinal cord injuries, spinal cord-related disabilities, or children of individuals with these conditions to support post-secondary education.

Award Details:

  • Amount: $1,000 to $4,000 per scholarship

  • Frequency: Two or more scholarships awarded annually (once per year)
  • Eligibility Requirements - All must be met:

  • Must be an individual with a spinal cord injury, spinal cord-related disorder, or child of such individual

  • High school or college GPA of 2.5 or higher

  • Currently in last semester of high school OR currently enrolled in college

  • Attending a four-year college, pursuing an associate degree, OR attending a post-graduate program

  • Cost of tuition must exceed the scholarship amount

  • No income restrictions
  • Priority Criteria:

  • Primary Priority: Direct spinal cord injuries and diseases resulting in paralysis such as:

  • - Spinal tumors
    - Spinal strokes or aneurysms affecting the spinal cord
    - Spina bifida
  • Secondary Priority: Wisconsin residents (though scholarships may be awarded to U.S. residents depending on fund availability)
  • Application Requirements:

  • Written essay (200 words or less) describing why applicant deserves the scholarship

  • Essay must be typed and double-spaced

  • List of five and ten-year goals
