Summary
The Minnesota Department of Human Services is inviting proposals for immigration services aimed at integrating New Americans into the long-term care workforce. This initiative addresses Minnesota's workforce shortage by providing training and employment opportunities for immigrants. The goal is to create partnerships that enhance career mobility and support retention in the long-term care sector, promoting a more inclusive workforce while benefiting local providers.Overview
Purpose and Outcome of the Grant Opportunity The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) through its Grants, Equity, Access and Research (GEAR) Division (the “State”) is seeking proposals from qualified immigration-legal–service professionals to provide comprehensive, culturally responsive immigration services and supports that support New Americans to enter, stay, and advance in the long-term care (LTC) workforce. These services are a cornerstone of an inclusive and equitable LTC employment system and are intended to foster long-term workforce integration, employment retention, and individual stability. For the purposes of this RFP, New American refers to an individual born abroad and their children. This Request for Proposals (RFP) is one component of a broader legislative initiative to remedy Minnesota’s acute LTC workforce shortage, as recognized by Laws of Minnesota 2023, chapter 61, article 1, section 60). The legislature appropriated funds to assist New Americans to obtain training, secure employment, and progress in LTC careers while supporting providers in meeting their workforce needs. The funding supports innovative partnerships between employment training programs and LTC facilities to build career pathways that enable New American workers to advance their skills and achieve career mobility.Eligibility
