Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST)

Purpose: The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) are the highest honors bestowed by the United States government specifically for K-12 science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) teachers.

Award Components:

$10,000 award from the National Science Foundation

Paid trip to Washington, D.C.

Certificate signed by the President of the United States

Attendance at recognition events and professional development opportunities

Opportunity to build lasting partnerships with colleagues across the nation

Eligibility:

Teachers of grades K-6

Employees of public, charter, or private schools

Five years of full-time employment as a teacher

Teach students at least 50% of instructional time

Geographic Scope: Arkansas, US (awards available to winners from each state, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, US territories, and Department of Defense schools)

Award Structure:

Up to 108 teachers nationally recognized in mathematics, science, and computer science

Winners chosen from each state and other jurisdictions
