Overview

Pell Grant

Type: Federal grant for undergraduate students

Overview: A federal grant awarded to undergraduate students with exceptional financial need. Helps cover the cost of tuition, fees, books, and other expenses. Unlike loans, grants do not have to be repaid.

    Eligibility

  • Undergraduate students only
  • Demonstrated exceptional financial need
  • Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year
  • Must be making Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
  • Undergraduate students must maintain a 2.0 minimum total institution GPA
  • Full-time enrollment (at least 12 hours) required for maximum award
  • Limited to 12 semesters (or equivalent) lifetime

    Award Details

  • Amount varies depending on Student Aid Index (from FAFSA), cost of attendance, and enrollment status
  • May be available for summer semester if student receives 100% of scheduled award in fall and spring
  • Lifetime limit applies

    Key Requirements

  • Students must earn (not including learning support classes) 67% of all cumulative attempted hours
  • Students in 4-year programs who have attempted more than 150% of published degree length will have aid terminated
  • Pell recalculation date is the day after initial drop/add period each term
  • Enrollment status locked on Pell recalculation date for that term

2. Maintain at least 12 credit hours enrollment (full-time) to receive maximum award
3. Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards

    Important Notes

  • Pell eligibility is subject to change each year
  • Enrollment status must be maintained by Pell recalculation date (day after initial drop/add period)
  • Maximum enrollment is locked on recalculation date; students may swap courses that haven't started as long as enrollment status remains the same
