Overview

P.E.O. STAR Scholarship

Overview: A non-renewable $2,500 scholarship for graduating women in their final year of high school. The scholarship must be used in the academic year following graduation or it will be forfeited.

Geographic Scope: United States and Canada

Focus Areas: General education for high school graduates pursuing any accredited postsecondary education

    Eligibility Requirements

  • Student Status: Must be a graduating woman in her final year of high school
  • Citizenship: Must be a citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States or Canada
  • Academic Performance: Minimum cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Leadership & Achievement: Must exhibit excellence in leadership, academics, extracurricular activities, community service, and potential for future success
  • Post-Secondary Plans: Must plan to attend an accredited postsecondary education institution in the United States or Canada full-time or part-time in the fall of the academic year following high school graduation
  • Recommendation: Must be recommended by a local P.E.O. chapter

How to Apply

Application Process

1. Chapter Interview & Recommendation:
- Members of a local P.E.O. chapter interview student before recommending her
- Chapter must recommend the student to proceed

2. Online Application:
- After local chapter recommendation, P.E.O. Executive Office emails applicant with instructions for logging into online account
- Student must complete application within 30 days of receiving email

3. Required Materials:
- Information about the student
- Information about extracurricular activities
- Information about community service/volunteer activities
- 700-word essay
- Two letters of recommendation
- Unofficial high school transcript (through 11th grade/junior year)

4. Notification:
- Awards announced annually by April 30
- All applicants and recommending chapters notified of results
