Overview

About Us Since 1938, the National Association of Geoscience Teachers has promoted excellence in geoscience education and supporting the community of geoscience educators. We are a member-driven professional organization with a strong vision: that everyone experiences welcoming, inspiring, and effective Earth education. Outstanding Teaching Assistant Awards NAGT recognizes outstanding teaching assistants in geoscience education with up to 30 awards annually. Both undergraduate and graduate teaching assistants are eligible for the award. Award winners receive a one-year membership in NAGT, which includes an online subscription to the Journal of Geoscience Education and our In The Trenches quarterly magazine. The undergraduate student awards are the gift of Thomas Hendrix, Grand Valley State University. Tom was the recipient of the 1994 Neil Miner award. He also served as President of NAGT and as editor of the Journal of Geoscience Education. The graduate student awards are funded by NAGT. The intent of this award is to recognize students responsible for their teaching work, regardless of their formal title.

Eligibility

You can learn more about this opportunity by visiting the funder's website. Nominations must be submitted by an instructor familiar with the TA's instruction; for example, a department chair, someone coordinating teaching assistants, or another instructor of record. The committee recognizes that departments may refer to students using different titles, including instructional or supplemental assistant. For students who may be graduating or recently graduated, nominations should be received no more than 12 months following their graduation date.
