Miley B. Wesson - Resident Essay Contest

Award Type: Essay competition for residents

Award Amount:

  • 1st Prize: $1,000 (plus engraved plaque)

  • 2nd Prize: $700 (plus engraved plaque)

  • 3rd Prize: $300 (plus engraved plaque)
  • Geographic Scope: Western Section American Urological Association geographical area

    Eligibility: Only residents (does not include fellows) who have not completed their residency by the time of the Abstract Submission deadline and are in training within the geographical area of the Western Section AUA. The contestant must be the principal worker and author of the paper.

    Subject Matter: The essay may consist of any topic of urologic interest. It need not be based on research. Must not be published prior to the date of the meeting.

    Judging Criteria: Papers are judged by the Essay Committee of the Western Section. Originality, importance of material and editorial clarity are important points in judging.

    1. Write essay on any topic of urologic interest
    2. Ensure essay has not been previously published
    3. Submit through online form for annual meeting
    4. Include abstract in Abstract Book submission
    5. Judging by Western Section Essay Committee

    Requirements

    • Must be a resident (fellows not eligible)

    • Must be in training within Western Section geographical area
