Overview

Meeker Classic Memorial Scholarship

Purpose: This scholarship honors exemplary volunteers who have donated their time and talent to the Meeker Classic Sheepdog Championship Trials (MCSCT) and have passed away.

History:

  • Initiated in 2009 (for award in 2010)

  • Dedicated to Gene Scritchfield (2010)

  • Honored Randy Campbell (2011)

  • Honored Bill and Genevieve Clough (2012)

  • Honored Roger Culbreath, Gill CO (2013)

    • Geographic Scope: Meeker High School graduates (Meeker, Colorado)

    Award Details:

  • Minimum Amount: $300 awarded to students in their second year of studies

  • Award Timing: Announced August 15th each year; presented at the Trial in September

      • Eligibility

    • Meeker High School graduates
    • Students continuing education in:
      • - Two-year trade school - Two-year associate degree - Four-year college or university
    • Relatives of MCSCT volunteers and associates of MCSCT are eligible
    • Selection based on volunteer activities and understanding of community volunteerism

    Process

    1. Interested 2013 graduates must send "intent to apply" by June 30 2. At end of applicant's first year of school, formal scholarship application is sent 3. Formal application due by June 30 of first year 4. MCSCT Scholarship Committee selects 5 finalists for interviews 5. Winner announced August 15th and presented at September Trial

    • How to Apply

    Application Process

    1. Initial Step - Intent to Apply
    - Submit "intent to apply" form by June 30 of graduating year
    - Brief form including:
    - Student's name
    - Address
    - Phone number
    - Meeker High School GPA
    - Where they intend to continue education
    - Education/training goals

    2. Formal Application
    - At the end of applicant's first year of school, MCSCT sends formal scholarship application
    - Complete and return by June 30 of that year

    3. Selection Process
    - MCSCT Scholarship Committee reviews applications
    - 5 finalists selected for interviews
    - Winner announced August 15th
    - Award presented at September Trial

    • Evidence of enrollment and progress in eligible educational program
