Laura Knaperek Nurse Training Scholarship

Overview: A $1,000 annual scholarship established in memory of Laura Knaperek, advocate extraordinaire, to support nursing education and training.

Purpose: Recognizes Laura Knaperek's heroic advocacy and commitment to the medically fragile and developmentally disabled community. The scholarship honors her significant positive impact on Hacienda's clients, their families, employees, and supporters.

Geographic Scope: Arizona (Phoenix area)

Focus Areas:

  • Healthcare training

  • Nursing education (CNA, CCA, LPN, RN, RT certifications)

    • Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be employed by Hacienda HealthCare and in good standing

  • Must have at least one year left of schooling/training

  • Must be pursuing further education in nursing (CNA, CCA, LPN, RN, RT)

  • Must attend an accredited school of nursing

  • Grades must be a C average or higher upon submitting application

    • Award Details:

  • Amount: $1,000

  • Renewable: Scholarship is not renewable, but recipient is allowed to reapply

  • Use: Tuition, books, lab fees, supplies, day care, etc.

    • Recipient Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a C average

  • Repay scholarship if dropping out of school or grades drop below C average

  • Report at end of the year on how the scholarship was used and helped further medical training
