Overview

Judith Liebman Award

Purpose: Recognizes outstanding student volunteers who have been "moving spirits" in their universities, their student chapters, and the Institute.

Eligibility:

  • Must be a member in good standing of INFORMS for at least one (1) year

  • Must have been a "moving spirit" in their student chapter, demonstrated by:

    • - Forming a student chapter
    - Revitalizing a dormant student chapter
    - Initiating special events and initiatives with student chapter
    - Vigorous involvement with various student chapter activities, events, and INFORMS committee or council service
    - Service as a student chapter officer
  • Past Judith Liebman Award recipients are ineligible

    • Selection Process:

  • No more than three candidates, each from different student chapters, will be selected annually

  • Selection based on contributions to chapters and to INFORMS through chapter activities

  • Evaluated by the Chapters and Forums Committee

  • No obligation to give any awards in a given year

    • Geographic Scope: International (INFORMS member organizations)

    Application Process

    Nomination Details:

  • Candidates can be nominated by student chapter members, faculty advisors, other observers, or self-nominations

  • Nominees may be known through the Chapters and Forums Committee (e.g., those who led efforts to form or revive a student chapter)

    • Required Materials:

  • All relevant information including:

    • - Candidate's qualifications
    - Statement describing how the nominee is a "moving spirit" in the chapter

    Submission Requirements:

  • Nominations must be received at least eight (8) weeks prior to the annual meeting of INFORMS

  • Submit to the Chapters and Forums Committee in care of the INFORMS office
