Joele Ruppert & Joseph Colton ASMD Scholarship

Award Amount: $500 (one-time)

Purpose: Provide scholarship funding to individuals diagnosed with ASMD for post-secondary education

Focus Areas: Studies in post-secondary degrees, including two-year colleges, four-year colleges, vocational schools, and other post-secondary institutions

Background: This scholarship was established in August 2020 in honor of Joele Ruppert and Joseph Colton, both diagnosed with ASMD, and their parents who demonstrated compassion, courage, selflessness, and perseverance. The fund began when Evren Ayik, a graduating high school senior, was awarded the Sanofi Genzyme TORCH Award and chose to endow this scholarship through the NNPDF.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicant must be diagnosed with ASMD
  • Applicant must be a current member of the NNPDF
  • Scholarship recipient must be a U.S. resident pursuing studies in the U.S.
  • Scholarship eligibility is limited to one award per applicant
  • Applicant must be a graduating high school senior or currently enrolled in a post-secondary education program
  • Applicant must submit proof of enrollment in a degree or vocational program within 90 days of receiving the scholarship
  • If selected, the recipient must allow the NNPDF to publish their name and photograph in NNPDF publications
