Eligibility

Income Guidelines (Maximum Annual Household Income):

  • Household of 1: $74,800

  • Household of 2: $84,450

  • Household of 3: $96,150

  • Household of 4: $106,800

  • Household of 5: $115,350

  • Household of 6: $123,900

  • Household of 7: $132,450

  • Household of 8: $141,000
  • Income guidelines may be lower depending upon funding source

    Income Calculation: Based on all forms of household income (everyone 18 years and older living in the home) including all forms of gross wages, SNAP, TANF, SSI, disability, child support, alimony, etc.

    Homeowner Contribution

    Repayment Requirement: Home repair applicants with household income over 30% AMI are required to pay a small portion of the project cost (materials, labor and administrative project costs).

    • Repayment amount determined by sliding scale fee based upon household income
    • Minimum repayment amount: $50
    • Payment must be made by check or money order prior to work beginning

    Partnership Requirements

    • Sweat Equity: Core component of the program. Homeowners must participate in sweat equity activities to invest physically and emotionally in the mission of Habitat
    • Sweat equity hours determined by Home Repair Staff based on extent of repairs
    • Accommodations made for homeowners with physical limitations (ADA)
    • Homeowners develop skills in financial management and home maintenance

    Application Process

    Step 1: Submit Application

  • Print and complete the Home Repair application form

  • Submit with supporting documentation via one of these methods:

  • - Drop off or mail to: Loudoun Habitat for Humanity, 700 Fieldstone Drive, Suite 128, Leesburg, VA 20176
    - Email to: Critical Home Repair Manager Angie Persello (contact through website)

    Step 2: Application Review by Program Staff

  • LHFH Home Repair staff reviews documentation

  • Staff calculates household income and establishes ability to pay

  • If applicant meets income requirements, a home visit will be scheduled
  • Step 3: Home Visit

  • Conducted with two members of LHFH team

  • Licensed contractor may participate if necessary

  • Holistic assessment of property to determine needed repairs

  • Evaluation of services home will most benefit from within program scope
  • Step 4: Estimate and Scope of Work

  • Estimates gathered for project costs

  • Scope of work written defining the repairs

  • Project cost, homeowner contribution, and available funding evaluated
  • Step 5: Project Proposal Submission

  • Applications meeting all applicant requirements and repairs within program scope are presented to LHFH Executive Director for approval
  • Step 6: Sign Homeowner Partnership Agreement

  • Homeowner signs agreement defining relationship, requirements, and expectations of both parties
  • Step 7: Homeowner Contribution and Sweat Equity

  • Homeowner contribution (based on household AMI) paid in full prior to work beginning

  • Payment by check or money order

  • Sweat equity activities scheduled and completed
  • Step 8: Schedule and Complete Repairs

  • Home Repair Staff coordinates with all necessary parties to begin and complete project
  • Step 9: Sign Certificate of Completion

  • Upon project completion, homeowner signs Certificate of Completion

  • Homeowner indicates that project per scope of work is complete and commits to continue property maintenance
  • Required Materials

    • Completed Home Repair application form
    • Supporting documentation (financial records, proof of income, etc.)
    • Proof of household income (all household members 18+)
