Overview

Graduate Student Scholarships

Overview: Merit-based scholarships awarded to new, incoming graduate students. Each master's degree program awards one $2,000 scholarship per program entry term.

Award Amount: $2,000 per scholarship

Geographic Scope: Domestic students only

Eligible Programs:

  • MS in Applied Analytics

  • MA in Applied Psychology

  • Master of Athletic Training

  • MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling

  • MS in Coaching Leadership

  • MA in Disability Studies

  • MS in School Counseling
  • General Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be admitted or conditionally/provisionally admitted to a master's program

  • Must submit FAFSA one month before first semester

  • Domestic students only, eligible for federal financial aid

  • Must enroll in at least 6 graduate credits first semester

  • High-merit, high-need students selected by review committee

  • Not eligible: Students receiving tuition reimbursement, corporate partnership discounts, or Loras College employees
  • Deadline & Selection: Applications due one month prior to start of first semester. Recipients notified at least two weeks before semester starts. Award applied to financial aid award letter.

    How to Apply

    Application Process

    1. Ensure Admission: Be admitted or conditionally/provisionally admitted to a master's program
    2. Submit FAFSA: Complete FAFSA one month before your first semester
    3. Complete Scholarship Application: Submit scholarship application form (available on student status page)
    4. Submit Program Materials: Application materials submitted for program admission are used for scholarship review
    5. Personal Statement (if required): If your program requires a personal statement, have it prepared and ready to upload before starting the scholarship application

    Program-Specific Criteria:

    MS in Applied Analytics

  • Minimum 3.3 cumulative undergraduate GPA

  • At least one year of professional work involving data or data application (including undergraduate internships)

  • Short personal statement describing how you'll use degree to advance a specific career path
  • MA in Applied Psychology

  • Minimum 3.3 cumulative undergraduate GPA

  • At least two years of post-baccalaureate professional or volunteer work

  • Short personal statement describing how you'll use degree to advance a specific career path
  • Master of Athletic Training

  • Merit-based scholarships awarded annually to second-year graduate students

  • Nominated by faculty committee
  • MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling

  • Evaluated on aptitudes demonstrated during program admission interview:

  • - Relevance of career goals
    - Aptitude for graduate-level study
    - Potential success forming effective counseling relationships
    - Respect for cultural differences
    - Self-awareness

    MS in Coaching Leadership

  • Minimum 3.3 cumulative undergraduate GPA

  • At least two years of impactful coaching/athletic experience (demonstrated on resume)

  • Short personal statement describing what being a good coach means to you
  • MA in Disability Studies

  • Short personal statement describing prior experiences related to disability

  • Brief explanation of what aspect of your experience you would change and why
  • MS in School Counseling

  • Minimum 3.5 cumulative undergraduate GPA

  • Short personal statement describing prior experiences related to service (paid relevant work, volunteer work, community service, leadership roles)
