Overview

Francis & Jean Baxter Scholarship

Overview: Awarded to Oklahoma girls or boys who are ready to begin tournament tennis in Oklahoma and neighboring states. This is a NEED-BASED scholarship.

Geographic Scope: Oklahoma and neighboring states

Focus Areas: Junior tournament tennis players (emerging level)

Award Purpose: Help offset costs associated with tournament travel expenses (transportation, meals, lodging)

Eligibility:

  • Oklahoma resident or willing to travel out of state for competition

  • Beginning to play competitive tournament tennis

  • Must exhibit strong character, sportsmanship, dedication, and love of the game

    • Award Details:

  • Up to $5,000 per award

  • Reimbursement-based for eligible expenses incurred during 12-month period after scholarship date

  • Funding follows OSSAA and NCAA amateurism specifications

  • Previous recipients may reapply in subsequent years (no guarantee of approval)

    Application Requirements

    Materials Required:

  • Parent/Guardian tax return (Pages 1 and 2 of 1040 only)

  • Official academic transcript

  • Recommendation from teacher/counselor who knows applicant well

  • Recommendation from applicant's personal coach

  • Copies of expense receipts (required before reimbursement)

  • Well-written paragraph including: your goals in tennis and what the OKTF Mission Statement means to you
