Distinguished Faculty Award

Status: Active

Geographic Scope: Green River College (Auburn, WA, US)

Purpose: Recognizes Green River College faculty members who have demonstrated distinguished service and dedication through their teaching as well as contributions to their profession and to the campus and/or community.

    Eligibility

  • Any Green River College faculty member is eligible to be nominated
  • Nominees must be GRC faculty

    Criteria

    Nominee demonstrates excellence in any or all of the following areas:
  • Instruction, counseling, guidance, and library services
  • Involvement in campus committees and activities
  • Professional development in field of expertise and/or in the teaching profession and sharing of that expertise with other faculty, administrators and staff at Green River or other institutions and organizations
  • Involvement in community activities and organizations

How to Apply

Nomination Process

#### Step 1: Initial Nomination
1. Any member of the GRC community (faculty, students, staff, or alumni) may submit a nomination
2. Complete the official nomination form
3. Submit by May 1, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.

#### Step 2: Nominee Response (Due by May 27, 2026)
Following notification, the nominee must complete the following:

1. Teaching Philosophy Statement
- 1-2 pages describing teaching philosophy
- Address qualifications for this award

2. Teaching Methodology Assignment
- Submit an assignment that demonstrates innovative teaching methodology
- OR demonstrates ability to engage and inspire students in independent and original thinking

3. Optional Additional Materials (up to 2 pages)
- Comments from student evaluations from 2 or 3 recent classes
- Professional awards and/or recognition
- Community Service Awards and/or recognition

#### Step 3: Review and Selection

  • Committee of past award recipients reviews all application packets

  • Committee selects finalists

  • Winners notified prior to award presentation
    • Application Materials Required

    • Nomination form
    • 1-2 page teaching philosophy statement
    • Innovative teaching assignment
    • Optional supporting documents (up to 2 additional pages)

      Total Application Length

    • Maximum 7 pages total (including all components)
