DISASTER RECOVERY – National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) Traditional Disaster Response

  Provides a team of 8-12 AmeriCorps NCCC members to participate in disaster response, recovery, and mitigation. Examples of service activities include, but are not limited to, supporting disaster recovery centers, shelters, and facilities; preparing and distributing meals or water; mucking and gutting flood or storm-damaged homes and buildings; debris removal; roof tarping; home and other infrastructure rebuilding; flood mitigation; surveying community assets; increasing disaster preparedness and resilience to adapt to climate change; and distributing educational materials and preparedness kits.

Notes

Length of team service usually is 3 to 13 weeks and at least 40 hours of service activities each week. A sponsor may request  assistance for up to 60 weeks, contingent upon application approval.
