Diamond Commendation Program

Overview: The Diamond Commendation Program documents and recognizes the use of best practices for asphalt plant operations, terminal operations, asphalt production, and paving.

Status: Active. The 2026 application period runs April 1 - August 15, 2026.

  • All companies in the asphalt pavement industry in the United States and Canada are eligible to apply

  • Includes: asphalt mix producers, paving contractors, equipment manufacturers, material suppliers, equipment distributors, engineering firms, and consultants
  • Award Categories:
    1. Diamond Achievement Commendation - covers manufacturing plant and plant site operations (appearance, operations, environmental practices, safety, permitting/regulatory compliance, community relations)
    2. Diamond Achievement Sustainable Commendation - optional expanded level assessing social, economic, and environmental efforts and sustainability principles
    3. Diamond Terminal Commendation - covers terminal facility operations
    4. Diamond Quality Commendation - covers quality of material produced (quality management, RAP/aggregate handling, asphalt storage, drying/mixing, air quality, truck scales, silos, control rooms)
    5. Diamond Paving Commendation - designed for paving crews (supervisor/crew training, best practices, compliance)
