Program Background

Since its inauguration, Historic New England's Community Preservation Grants program has helped more than seventy-five small to mid-sized history organizations save and share their stories. Projects span from Presque Isle, Maine, to Westport, Connecticut, raising the visibility and importance of preservation throughout New England.

Funding Source

The Herbert and Louise Whitney Fund for Community Preservation endowment supports this grant program, named in honor of Herbert and Louise Whitney to recognize their deep appreciation and love of all things New England, particularly the Bishop family farm in North Woodstock, Connecticut.
