Classroom & STEAM Grants

Mission: To award grants to educators that utilize innovative methods to excite and inspire students to achieve their educational potential.

Overview

The Fremont Education Foundation offers educator grants to enhance educational excellence for FUSD students and teachers. Grants help bring education to real-world, engaging, and meaningful experiences.

    Three Categories

  • Classroom teachers, counselors and speech therapists (single maximum request $2,500)
  • STEAM specific (single maximum request $2,500)
  • Special Education specific (single maximum request $2,500)

    Eligibility

  • Any probationary or permanent FUSD certificated teacher, speech language pathologist, or counselor may apply
  • Each applicant is limited to inclusion in only one grant
  • Teacher grants may not be transferred to another school or teacher without FEF Board approval
  • All Fremont Unified School District certificated staff are encouraged to apply

    What Will Be Funded

  • Projects that are innovative, quality programs that can be replicated by other educators
  • Grants will be funded up to a maximum of $2,500
  • If the total amount of the proposed grant exceeds $2,500, FEF will provide funds only if the amount over $2,500 has already been secured through site funds or donations, with administrators approval
  • All grants must comply with FUSD approved curriculum materials
  • Grants written for remedial programs during non-instructional time (before and/or after school) are also accepted

Geographic Scope

Fremont Unified School District (FUSD) - Over 27 years, more than 150 teacher grants have been awarded to directly benefit over 18,000 students at schools including: American High, Ardenwood Elementary, Azevada Elementary, Blacow Elementary, Brier Elementary, Brookvale Elementary, Cabrillo Elementary, Centerville Jr. High, Chadbourne Elementary, Durham Elementary, Forest Park Elementary, Glankler Elementary, Glenmoor Elementary, Gomes Elementary, Grimmer Elementary, Harvey Green Elementary, Hirsch Elementary, Hopkins Jr. High, Horner Jr. High, Irvington High, Kennedy High, Leitch Elementary, Maloney Elementary, Marshall Elementary, Mattos Elementary, Millard Elementary, Mission San Jose Elementary, Mission San Jose High, Mission Valley Elementary, Niles Elementary, Oliveira Elementary, Parkmont Elementary, Patterson Elementary, Robertson High, Thornton Jr. High, Vallejo Mill Elementary, Walters Jr. High, Warm Springs Elementary, Warwick Elementary, Washington High, Weibel Elementary, Fremont Adult School

Funding

The total number of grants awarded is based on funds raised at the annual Excellence in Education Gala. Funding of grants will be based on the innovative characteristics and quality of the project as described in the application.

How to Apply

Application Process

1. Complete the Educator Grant Application - Available on the FEF website
2. Submit by deadline - Sunday, September 28, 2026 (end of day)
3. Application will be reviewed - During October
4. Recipients notified - By the end of October 2026

    Required Materials

  • Grant application form
  • Project description demonstrating innovative characteristics and quality
  • Budget/itemization of proposed grant
  • Evidence of administrator approval (if amount exceeds $2,500 and requires supplemental funding)

    Application Details

  • Individual or group grants are awarded in amounts no greater than $2,500
  • Applications should describe how the project will be innovative and can be replicated by other educators
  • Grants written for remedial programs during non-instructional time are accepted
  • All grants must comply with FUSD approved curriculum materials
