Charitable Grants

Overview: Charitable grants are awarded quarterly to individuals suffering from spinal cord injuries or spinal cord-related disorders to help them live more independent and fulfilling lives.

Geographic Scope: Requests from Wisconsin residents are given priority, but grants are not limited to Wisconsin. Applicants must be residents of the United States.

Funding Focus Areas:

  • Wheelchair upgrades and maintenance

  • Vehicle modifications (hand controls, lifts)

  • Small home modifications (ramps, lift installation)

  • Other adaptive equipment
  • What They Don't Fund:

  • Vehicles

  • Partial payments toward larger items unless all other funding is already secured

  • Requests without specific items identified (e.g., "anything you can give")

  • Internet quotes for wheelchairs (must be from local vendors)
  • Eligibility Requirements:

  • Applicants must suffer from a spinal cord injury or spinal cord-related disorder

  • Must demonstrate financial need (may require documentation)

  • No age requirement

  • Must be a U.S. resident

  • Must request specific modifications or equipment

  • If requesting partial payment, all other funding must already be in place for the total amount
  • Review Schedule: Reviewed quarterly in January, March, June, and September

    Award Disbursement: Grants are disbursed directly to equipment suppliers

    Application Process

    1. Complete the application form - All sections must be completed; incomplete applications will not be considered
    2. Obtain vendor estimates - Applicants must submit estimates from potential suppliers for the desired equipment or modifications
    3. For wheelchairs: Applications and estimates must be from a vendor local to the applicant (internet quotes not accepted)
    4. Submit application - Mail or submit completed application
