NPF Centers of Excellence Program

Funder: National Pancreas Foundation (Bethesda, MD, US)

Overview:
Guided by an NPF Centers of Excellence Task Force, which includes physicians, surgeons, and patient advocates, the program designates institutions as Centers of Excellence based on their expertise and commitment to comprehensive pancreatic disease management.

Program Structure:
The program is two-tiered, allowing institutions to apply for:

Certification Types

Clinical Center of Excellence:

Focuses on comprehensive clinical care for pancreatic diseases

Clinical Center and Academic Center of Excellence:

Combines clinical care with research focus

Emphasis on clinical trials, training opportunities for young physicians, and advanced clinical care

Pancreatitis Clinical Center

Pediatric Pancreatitis Clinical Center

Pancreatic Cancer

Academic Centers Available:

Adult Pancreatitis Academic Center (requires Clinical Center application submission)

Pediatric Pancreatitis Academic Center (requires Clinical Center application submission)

Pancreatic Cancer Academic Center (requires Clinical Center application submission)

Eligibility:

Hospitals and medical institutions nationwide (US-based)

Institutions with demonstrated expertise in pancreatic disease management

Must meet specific clinical and/or academic criteria

Certification Renewal: Every 3 years

NPF staff provides 60 days' notice for renewal

Centers not up for renewal are considered Clinical Centers of Excellence

Centers wishing to transition to Academic status must re-apply

Cost: No cost to become a Center of Excellence
