Overview: The Beech Scholarship Fund (BSF) is in honor of Dr. Bernard C. Watson, John C. Haas, F. Otto Haas, Floyd W. Alston, and Robert W. Smith. Annually awards a $1,000 scholarship to deserving minority students of color.

Geographic Scope: Philadelphia, PA

Award Amount: $1,000

Eligibility

• Target Population: High school seniors and current full-time college students who are minority students of color
• Academic Requirements: Minimum GPA of 2.75 or higher
• Eligible Institutions:
- Temple University - Cheyney University - Lincoln University - Community College of Philadelphia
• Academic Status: Must be entering as a full-time freshman OR be a current full-time student for fall 2026 academic year
• Major Requirements: Must declare a major in Arts, Business, Engineering, Education, or Liberal Arts
• Extracurricular Activity: Must be active in extracurricular activities through school, church, community, or work

Application & Deadlines

• Deadline: Friday, April 17, 2026 at 3:00 PM
• Notification Date: Recipients will be notified by Tuesday, June 6, 2026
• Applications received after deadline will not be accepted

Selection Process

The Selection Committee reviews all applications fairly and ranks applicants according to scholarship criteria.
