LACMA is NOT looking for traditional proposals. Some degree of uncertainty and ambiguity is encouraged to identify projects that truly explore new frontiers in art and technology. 3. One-sentence description - Provide a one-sentence description of the work for which you are seeking support
4. Full project description - 500-word maximum
- Include principal artist/collective bio (may be in CV format)
5. Artistic/creative merit - 100-word maximum
- Describe the artistic or creative merit of the proposed project
6. Technology and culture dialogue - 100-word maximum
- In what ways does your project inspire dialogue about the relationship between technology and culture or other relevant issues?
7. Public engagement plan - Describe your proposed plan for public engagement
- What opportunities do you provide for the public to engage with your project during development?
Award Process
- LACMA staff and curators review all applications
- Final selection made by museum director and curatorial/program staff
- LACMA has sole discretion on number of proposals accepted and supported
- May require meetings with applicants to discuss proposals and establish detailed agreements
- Grants awarded only after definitive agreements reached
- Amount and timing of fund disbursement determined by nature of each project
Grant Agreement Requirements
All artists must execute a definitive agreement with LACMA (and third-party participants where applicable) setting forth:
Budget Requirements
- All costs included in project budget must be expended during period of support (typically within 24 months of initial award)
- Applicants may include fees for their own time and/or creative effort as part of overall request
