Overview

Visit Richfield Grant Program

Purpose: Provide grant funding for activities and events that increase tourism and visitors to Richfield and promote Richfield businesses and amenities.

Geographic Scope: Richfield, Minnesota

Focus Areas:

  • Businesses

  • Nonprofit organizations

  • Community groups

  • Local government agencies
  • Applicants may apply for more than one grant; however, an applicant may be awarded only one grant per project.

    Maximum Award: $4,000

    Evaluation Criteria

    The Visit Richfield Board evaluates applications based on:

  • Is the project unique to Richfield?

  • How will it help bring non-Richfield residents to Richfield?

  • What is new/different about the project in terms of bringing people to Richfield?

  • How much difference will a grant from Visit Richfield make?

  • How likely is it that the applicant will achieve desired results?

  • Does the project represent a partnership between two or more Richfield organizations and/or businesses?

  • Does the application identify an important new or emerging opportunity in the community?

  • Will Visit Richfield's support help grow the idea/activity into something of greater benefit?

  • For recurring events: Will support be needed every year, or is the event sustainable on its own?
  • Grant Distribution Schedule

    Grants are distributed quarterly. The Visit Richfield board reserves the right to limit expenditures in any individual grant period and on a yearly basis. The total amount disbursed may be impacted by Visit Richfield budgetary decisions.

    Note: Smaller grant requests ($500 or less) do not need to be made during a specific granting window and will be decided by the board at the next board meeting.

    Project Requirements

    Projects receiving grants must:

  • Include the Visit Richfield logo and/or website on all printed materials (website, signage, coupons, flyers/brochures, T-shirts, etc.)

  • Send event participants an email suggesting a hotel stay in Richfield hotels (when relevant)

  • Invite a Visit Richfield presence at events (when relevant)

  • Submit follow-up materials within 2 weeks of event, including:

  • - Documentation of expenditures of grant funds
    - Screenshots of logo use
    - Attendance numbers
    - Effect on community

    Application Process

    Applicants will fill out the Visit Richfield Grant Application Form.

    Application Timeline

    Submission Windows:
    1. January 1 - February 1 (Applicants notified mid-February)
    2. April 1 - May 1 (Applicants notified mid-May)
    3. July 1 - August 1 (Applicants notified mid-August)
    4. October 1 - November 1 (Applicants notified mid-November)

    Special Note: Smaller grant requests ($500 or less) do not need to be made during a specific granting window and will be decided by the board at the next board meeting.

    1. Describe the project you are undertaking, including its purpose, primary activities, and timeline (Required)
    2. Describe how this project will benefit either local or long-distance tourism to Richfield (Required)
    3. Identify the project's target audience, including the number of people you hope will participate (Required)
    4. Describe how grant funds would be used for this project (Required)
    5. Identify planned methods for tracking and measuring the success of this project (Required)
    6. Describe how the Visit Richfield logo, website, etc. will be utilized in completion of this project (Required)
