Osteopathic Tribute Scholarship

Overview: Two highly competitive scholarships presented annually by the Osteopathic Founders Foundation to recognize outstanding third-year osteopathic medical students for high academic achievement, exceptional college ambassadorship, and meaningful community service.

Award Amounts:

  • Outstanding Scholar Award (in honor of current year's Outstanding Physician honoree): $10,000 for fourth year of study

  • Osteopathic Tribute Scholarship: $5,000 for fourth year of study
  • Eligibility:

  • Invitation-only based on academic standing

  • Must be in top 20% of third-year class at Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine

  • Must be enrolled at combined OSU-COM campuses
  • Selection Criteria:

  • Ranking in top 20% of OSU-COM third-year class (required)

  • Educational history

  • Extracurricular activities including community volunteer work

  • College ambassadorship

  • Involvement in the osteopathic profession

  • Written personal statement discussing:

  • - Reasons for pursuing career in osteopathic medicine
    - Anticipated residency and practice goals
  • Academic excellence

  • Professional and personal excellence

  • Leadership roles as osteopathic medical student
  • Recognition:

  • Recipients recognized by Foundation's Board of Directors in December of award year

  • Annual recognition for high academic achievement, outstanding college ambassadorship, and meaningful community service

    Timeline:

  • Application Open: April 1, 2026

  • Application Deadline: May 31, 2026

  • For 2026-2027 academic year

  • Application by invitation only
  • Notification Timeline:

  • Allow 6-8 weeks for notification after application close
  • Required Documents:
    1. Personal statement (written by applicant) addressing:
    - Reasons for pursuing career in osteopathic medicine
    - Anticipated residency and practice goals
    - Future career goals
    2. Current professional photo (jpg or png format)
    3. CV outlining participation as leader in osteopathic organizations
    4. Transcript (unofficial transcript acceptable)
    5. One faculty letter of recommendation (optional - may be emailed separately to mcaine@osteopathicfounders.org)

    Review Criteria:

  • Excels academically, professionally, and personally

  • Participates in meaningful activities supporting college and osteopathic profession

  • Participation in community volunteerism or special projects

  • Leadership roles as osteopathic medical student
