Hansen Inspired Teacher Grants

Geographic Scope: Mahtomedi Public Schools licensed staff only

Eligibility:

  • Licensed staff of Mahtomedi Public Schools

    • Focus Areas:

  • Professional development enrichment opportunities that do not lead to a degree

  • Materials and resources necessary to bring learning to fruition within the classroom

  • Examples include: conferences, professional learning institutes, training programs, and educational resources

    • Background: Hansen Grants are available thanks to a generous donation from Jim Hansen, a former teacher and School Board Chair at Mahtomedi Public Schools and former MAEF board member.

    Recent Examples of Funded Projects:

  • AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) Summer Institute 2026 for college and career readiness training

  • Minnesota Earth Science Teacher Association Conference for Earth and Space Science instruction

  • Innovative School Summit conferences for special education teachers on trauma-informed and inclusive teaching strategies

  • RAPID + TCT Conference for 3D printing and additive manufacturing education

    3. Fill out the MAEF Grant Application Form (single form used for Hansen Inspired Teacher Grants, MAEF Grants, WAS Performing Arts Grants, and Oliver's Fund Grants)

      Requirements

    • All requests require validation by a building principal
    • Technology-related requests require an in-person meeting with Technology Department staff before application submission
    • All technology-related applications are forwarded to Mahtomedi Public Schools Technology Department
    • Complete draft required before formal application
