Goodwyn Holmes Award

Overview: An annual award recognizing meritorious service and contribution to the coal industry.

Purpose:

  • Provide acknowledgement of meritorious service

  • Encourage constructive thinking and individual enterprise

  • Stimulate professionalism and active thinking for promotion of the coal industry, coal utilization, and sales activity
  • Award Details: The Goodwyn Holmes Medallion is presented annually to one member of The Coal Institute

    Presentation: Awarded at The Coal Institute's Summer Trade Seminar Banquet

    Eligibility: Members of The Coal Institute in good standing

    Geographic Scope: The Coal Institute membership (primarily US-based)

    Nomination Process:
    1. Any member of The Coal Institute in good standing may submit a nomination
    2. Submit the name of the nominee to the President of The Coal Institute
    3. Deadline: Prior to May 1st each year

    Selection Criteria:

  • Service and professional demeanor

  • Qualification through demonstrated service to the industry
  • Note: One member may be selected per year at the discretion of the Awards Committee.
