Northwest Health Foundation

Mission: To advance, support and promote the health of the people of Oregon and Southwest Washington.

The foundation is committed to addressing health inequities, recognizing that geography, race, ethnicity, disability status, and immigration status often determine access to healthy lives. The foundation prioritizes equity across its work and supports Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) leaders and communities.

Primary Program Areas:

• Civic Health Initiative: Provides general operating support, capacity building, and technical assistance to organizations building strong civic engagement in their communities to shape health-promoting policies.

• Justice Reinvestment Equity Program (JREP): Seeks to reduce incarceration, promote healing for survivors of violence, and advance community safety in Oregon. Invests in culturally specific organizations and culturally responsive providers. The program envisions a community-directed public safety system that uplifts belonging, healing, individual and family stability, and support networks to prevent and reduce imprisonment and recidivism while ending racial disparities in Oregon's criminal justice system.

• Advancing Disability Justice Program: A collaboration with other donors supporting organizations with grants and capacity building to support the leadership of people with disabilities and build community connections while addressing ableism.

• Community-Led Sponsorships: Provides support to community-led efforts aligned with the foundation's equity priorities for community events, fundraisers, learning opportunities, and conferences that fall outside major programmatic areas.
