The foundation was established during the lifetimes of Leonard and Helen R. Stulman and became fully operational in 2001 following Leonard Stulman's death in 2000. During their lifetimes, the Stulmans made generous gifts to the Jewish community, the arts, and medical organizations. Upon Mr. Stulman's stipulation, the foundation shifted its focus after 2000 to concentrate on mental health, health, and aging.
