Founder: Marshall Brondum was born in Coleharbor, North Dakota in 1916. He grew up and lived most of his life in the Blackfoot Valley and Missoula, Montana. Blinded by an accident at age ten, he earned his living as a farmer, musician, and radio and television repairman. In the 1950s, he acquired a small television cable company. Marshall and his wife, Mary, built the company into a sizeable Western Montana cable service, forming Marshall TV Cable Company in 1980. Mary Brondum died in 1982. In 1988, Marshall sold the cable company and retired. He died in 1992, having set aside substantial assets and estate funds to establish the foundation.
